Today is my birthday. I am home with my family and enjoying a little break after CHA. Well, until tomorrow. My husband surprised me with a big family birthday dinner at his mother's house yesterday. All the kids came and my mother in law is the BEST cook. It meant a lot to me. I love birthdays. I celebrate each year with an appreciation for life and for each day. I woke up in the middle of the night last night and could not sleep- for two hours- so I got up and thought about "things." One of those things was my mother. I think when your a child (no matter what age) and your parents are no longer living... birthdays are different. I found myself REALLY missing my mother this past week. I always miss her, but this past week I just was mourning the loss of having a mother to help me emotionally with life. I love my husband and children so much, but my mother was always there for me in a "different" way. So when I'm having times of self-doubt and questions... I always would go to my mother. I really miss her and her unconditional love. Last night, I found that I was talking to her and I felt a strong need to tell her how I regret not appreciating her "being there" for me. Isn't it true that we sometimes don't appreciate the MOST important things enough? Anyway, today I hope to just spend a fabulous day with my kids making new memories. We do have baseball games today and that is almost a "birthday tradition" in my life. I love it!
