I am here in San Jose teaching. I had the BEST workshop last night with the girls at Scrapbook Island. I did not take ONE photo. I was so busy with the girls in the class. I had the best time! I am always GRATEFUL to be surrounded by such wonderful, creative and inspiring women. I love spending time with my good friend Laurie who owns the store. She is a "good egg." I always use this term for girls who are just GOOD, the type of people who inspire me by the way they live their life. She has the best store and boy did I shop. Hello- I have the new Tim Holtz set of DISTRESS INK PENS!!!! Oh, they are YUMMY and they make my creative heart happy. RUSH to get them- I'm telling you that they are fabulous!!!! I will be using these in my upcoming workshops.
I was teaching last night and I keep my phone on vibrate only. My kids know to call the store directly when I'm teaching if they need me and dads not available. ha! I get done teaching last night and I see that my daughter McKay had called me THREE times. My heart sinks. I knew something was "going on." It's Friday night and she is a social girl- normally, not calling to chat with me that many times. wink!
I call her back (dialing as fast as I can!) and she said..."Mommy, I did not get into BYU." I knew that she wanted so much to get into Brigham Young University for college, but it's very hard to get accepted. I said, "I'm so sorry, and then she stops me and said- I'm kidding... MOM, I got accepted... I AM SO HAPPY!!!!!"
I want to share with you that she was such a great example to me over this. She wanted to go to BYU, but worried she would not make it in. She has great grades, but they have so many applicants and they take the top GPAS and SATS. For months, she did not want to even "hope" that she would get in. She instructed us at home to not "talk about it." She just did not want to be "let down!"
I had talked to her and told her that I truly felt that she would find out what God wanted her to do next year and just WAIT and it would work out EXACTLY as it should. I prayed for her to feel peace these last couple of months of WAITING. I knew that no matter what... the direction she needed to go would be made known. Going to college is a BIG MOMENT- a special time in your life. I knew that she just needed to know that it would all work out.
So this VERY happy girl- will be going to Provo, Utah next year for college-
I am floating today because I am so HAPPY for her. This was her dream. She worked very hard in school and on the drill team to make this possible. Gentry and McKay will once again be together next year at school. So thankful Gentry will be there to watch after her baby sister. Matt will be graduating in April from BYU. These moments make my heart overflowing with joy!!!!!
Headed to the ISLAND today two more all day workshops. I love TODAY!
