New Years EVE... confession-

I have a confession- I did not send out Christmas cards this year. Yes, we took the family photo and I did get them mass produced. Then I placed them aside and had GREAT intentions to get them created and mailed. Well, it never happened. Life happens and with that I am forgiving myself. As each card came to our family- I kept thinking that I needed to get mine done. I then decided about a week before Christmas...that this YEAR- I was going to take a pass! 

One thing that does not help is that we have Ty's birthday a week before Christmas! So TODAY... I want to share with you the photos from Ty's 12th Birthday. Better late than never- right?

You know I used my CELEBRATE line of papers to gift wrap his presents!!!! Then added the CELEBRATE ribbon to it. I know... I often wish that I could have my papers as gift wrap. Ha!

Ty had just got on his NEW braces and was still in a little discomfort. Oh, the joys of being 12 years old and in 6th Grade.

We always have birthday balloons and a banner out to celebrate!!!!

Ty went and picked out cupcakes from THE SWEET TOOTH FAIRY (Fort Union area- Utah). The are over the top SWEET and they have speciality flavors. Ty's favorite flavor was Chocolate Marble. 

Taylor made this his own CAKE... it's a HUGE cupcake. (*thank you Taylor for helping with all the party stuff!)

A few of the boys at the party... we had a low key but fun time! Pizza, Cake...watched Despicable Me and then the boys wanted to play video games!!!!   It was a HAPPY DAY-

I often feel bad that his birthday is the hardest one for me (compared to my other kids!) since it's a week from Christmas. Anyway, I always want him to know that he is special and truly my GREATEST gift!!!! He is my little  miracle. Yes, having suffered a stroke at 7 months pregnant with him-- ALWAYS reminds me to be grateful. Each year, I thankfully thank to God for him and for another year that I am HERE!!!!!

So busy with my kids being home. Lots of friends are always over here and it's just my favorite thing-

Also, the coolest gift IDEA ever was given to my girls from their AUNT CINDY (thank you soooo much Cindy!!!!)- she scanned over 17,000 photos of the family and girls and put all the photos on a zip drive for each of them. The perfect gift of MEMORIES...

Taylor is 5 (Cinderella)- Tyler and Krista (cute cousins)... I am so thankful that Cindy did this!!!!

Gentry and McKay was LOVING being together too!!!! It all makes for a wonderful holiday season-

HOME

I am home enjoying being with my family. I LOVE this time of year. Having my kids home all day is my FAVORITE thing. Yesterday, I filmed the segment with Good Things Utah. You can watch it HERE.

Marti (one of the co-hosts) told me that a HUGE storm was coming in. So I was really worried about it- so we headed right to the grocery store to stock up on food. Warning: Do not take a group of  HUNGRY kids with you to shop. YOU will walk away with a bunch of stuff that  you probably will not need or find of much nutritional value!!!!!  

Although I have a BIG deadline for CHA- oh, nothing like last minute additions- my girls asked if we could have a girl's lunch date!!!! So Gentry, McKay and Hannah (Gentry's college roommate) and I went to my FAVE Cafe Rio!!!!!  Yes, I am still doing Weight Watcher's. In fact, it is just about my favorite "lifestyle/diet" plan of ALL TIME! It's easy to do and POINTS PLUS is really  EASY to follow and enjoy! I have lost weight- broke a plateau and feel REALLY healthy. I hadno Christmas gain this year!!!! (I know this was a FIRST for me!!!!)

So last night, a HUGE big NASTY Blizzard hit UTAH. I mean it shut us down. I was not able to drive home and had to stay at a friend's house for several hours. Finally, Ty came to my rescue and came and picked me up. He knows I am the WORST snow driver!!!! I get so scared and drive really slow because I tend to panic. I felt so much gratitude to be HOME last night (finally) and to be surrounded by my family. It was so bad that it took Taylor TWO 1/2  hours to drive home from work in the storm. It is normally a twenty minute drive! Then Gentry was downtown SLC and slid off the road. She was so scared that she started crying and called her dad to come get  her. It took Ty over an hour to drive a mile to rescue her. 

I took this PHOTO today of my front door- so THANKFUL that I finally was able to make it home late last night!!!! 

ANYWAY....

It really made me THINK about how things like a STORM can put LIFE puts WHAT REALLY MATTERS...into Perspective.

What matters most?????

Oh, my heart is so GRATEFUL for US... that we are a family and that we have each other. Thankfully Ty is the SUPERSTAR dad and husband in that he is always willing to take care of us! Poor guy is shoveling snow non-stop and never complains!!!!

LIFE is GOOD... oh, so GOOD!!!!!! Nothing matters more to me than my sweet family. As a mother, I could not stop worrying about Taylor & Spencer and Gentry knowing they were caught out in the snow. I prayed and prayed to Heavenly Father to watch over and protect them. I am so thankful for answered prayers-

Today, it is starting to SNOW really hard again- and I have not left my house all day!!!! I'm not complaining because I love it. It sometimes MAKES you slow down (when you can't leave your house)... and you can spent TIME together.

I opened my back door and this is my grill covered with snow. I am sure we got more than a foot of snow in the past day!!!!

It is cold and snowy...but it is BEAUTIFUL!

A great day to stay home, watch Hallmark movies with my kids, make hot chocolate ... and be TOGETHER!!!!!

Good Things Utah TV- SPARKLE & SHINE today's segment

I am going on Good Things Utah in a couple of hours- 10:00 am CHANNEL 4. I am showing how to change party decor that I purchased (at my local party store ZURCHERS) and adding my personal style to them. We always have a party at our house- NEW YEARS EVE- usually just our family and we order take out Chinese food. I love to decorate the house and have lots of food for munchies. No diet's allowed!!!! ha-

A before and after of the masquerade masks that I purchased! They were only $2.00 each. My family loves to wear these on New Year's Eve- kind of a family tradition...

 MASKS:

Take a simple plain mask and add lots of TC GEMS to the mask outline to add SPARKLE!!!!

 I purchased this banner because I loved the SILVER fringe. However, the letters were not the colors and style that I wanted. My house this year is SILVER & PINK... 

 To create a BANNER:

Simply take off alphabet letters and trace with your favorite PINK damask (Teresa Collins BG1102) paper. Glue pattern paper on top of the alphabets. Next, adhere TC GEMS along the alphabet letters edges with glossy accents.

Adding gems  are sure to help the alphabet letters to SPARKLE & SHINE!!!

I spoke to Jennifer yesterday- one of the owner's of Oh Scraps scrapbook store. I can't believe my workshop right before CHA Winter is almost sold out... yes, no visuals or anything. I have something special in the works so if you want one of the VERY last spots...call and get a spot!!!!  Oh, I am mixing two of my brand new collections for a project that is just BEAUTIFUL... can I say that???? I have some fun surprises in store... oh, so WISH I could tell you what I have been up too!!!!!

OKAY... I am going on NO SLEEP in the last two days. I wish I could share all the details WHY but it's so over the top COOL (what I have been up too!) and it will be REVEALED soon. I have a family that LOVES me and supports me so much.

I have a confession- I am not a good gift wrapper. I know it's just not my thing! I can never do it perfect enough. Anyone else feel this way? I have the hardest time finding a gift for my sweet husband. He is the type of guy that really doesn't need or want anything. If he does, he just get's it himself. Hmmmmm.... today's agenda is to hopefully find him SOMETHING that he would like. I am ALL SET with all my other gifts. I am feeling peace in that we have scaled back so much and it just brings back the meaning into the holiday and the reason why our family celebrates Christmas.

I woke up to lots of snow this morning. It is so beautiful! It looks like we will have a snowy Christmas here. It does make it more difficult to get around in the snow with all the traffic. It's a good day to stay inside and create. I am feeling so inspired with my new lines and the "NEW" Blingage. Oh, I will be teaching two workshops NEXT month. Just announced- Whim So Doodle in FL and Oh Scrap in Costa Mesa, CA. Both workshops are RIGHT before CHA!!! I am using my brand new releases and introducing my newly designed 2011 workshops- *I have some exciting things that will be coming out at CHA!!!!!!!!

I am so excited to have a FAMILY day at our home today after church. We are having a big family dinner (I'm making spagetti) and ALL of our kids will be here. Kayla and Matt are going to her parents home in Seattle for Christmas so we are celebrating today with them!

Yesterday was so fun and all the boys were so well behaved. Gentry, Taylor and Spencer helped the entire time so that always makes throwing a party easier. I was so tired last night that I went to bed at 10:00 pm. I wanted to go at 9:00- ha!

TODAY is a very SPECIAL day in our house... our son Ty is now 12 years old!!!!

It is BUSY around this time of year. I feel like each day we have is SUCH a huge blessing and I am truly thankful for TIME. I want to live each day with appreciation for LIFE. Gentry came home and she is just so loved by our family. Zach had a Christmas Choir concert last night and he LOVED that Gentry and the family attended. Little Ty is suffering from aching teeth from his new braces.  Just so much going on and I simply am so thankful for everything! Thank you Taylor for helping to plan Ty's birthday party with me. I am surrounded by family who do so much to support one another.

Today I am watching Zach again perform at the elementary school's and then at our local mall. PLUS, I'm helping Ty's class with the yearly tradition of decorating Gingerbread Houses. I love THIS!

I wanted to share this video that I filmed with Kristine McKay and Northridge Media. It was a little Behind the SCENES with Teresa Collins. I think it gives a little insight to who I am. DAY 15 COUNTDOWN- CANVAS CORP GIVEAWAY

 I had the BEST time doing Good Things Utah Channel 4 yesterday. I have to tell you about how LIVE TV can sometimes throw a curve at you. During my segment I heard a faint- "her microphone is not working". Then I felt a nudge at the back of my jacket. As Reagan and I were talking about the projects, the sound man was behind me, trying to lift my jacket and work on my microphone. I have to admit, I had to just go with the flow and not allow it to get me distracted. I tried to stand straighter as he was tugging at my jacket and skirt. I realized then that the camera was then focused on the projects instead of showing me. AHHH... live TV. I have had some crazy things happen during my times on TV like this, or my projects being knocked over (QVC UK) by the host, or just the project being messed up. I really try to go with the flow and not let those situations get me too flustered. It's LIFE unscripted...right? 

 I came home to clean up a BIG glittery mess of a kitchen. I had a big creative mess and needed to get it clean so I could relax a bit to work on some design things I am working on. I have this crazy thing...I need a clean space so that I can be MORE creative and not distracted by a mess. Can you relate? Then took the boys to get our teeth cleaned. We love our dentist!!! Thankfully Rich and his wife are good friends to us. Then I raced downtown to take Ty to his weekly guitar lessons. My guilty pleasure yesterday was watching the show, The Biggest Loser on TV. I had to miss my weigh in meeting since I did the TV segment. I really hate to miss my meetings. They keep me inspired and motivated!

 TODAY is a big day. My son Ty is getting on his braces this morning!!! He is so very excited. Zach is still wearing his braces and will be until he realizes that wearing his elastics would really speed up the process. Ha!

This morning, I am headed to go on Good Things Utah. I am showing how to customize your own accents- Sparkly & Shiny gifts for your friends and neighbors. I LOVE monograms so I cut out some larger alphabet letters with my Cricut. This is what I did with them...

I cut them with my machine (love my CRICUT!!!!) on chipboard and then applied craft glue to the alphabet letter. I sprinkled on Blingage Gentry's Glitter all over the alphabet to create the perfect SPARKLY accent to your gifts!

 I spent the most wonderful day yesterday at our FIRST drill team competition of the year. The drill team placed in DANCE and took 6th in Military due to a PENALTY...ugh... if the penatly was not there they would have placed. The best award they recieved--- Murray Drill Team was awarded with BEST SPORTMANSHIP! The girls cheered for all the teams and showed that they are team players. I got to spend the day with my three girls, KAYLA and Maxson.

Can you believe we are at tag 9 of the countdown? I have a big love of KEYS so this tag is one of my favorite that was created by Lara. Again, you can go to the PHOTOCENTRIC BLOG to see each day's tag and a little insight of her creations.

So excited about the GIVEAWAY today. When I first started scrapbooking I was drawn to ONE COMPANY in particular.  I loved their HARDWARE line and embellishments. Here is another view of the library and drawer tray and the tape and numbers!!!!! I LOVE their trays- I love to make items that display my creative side!!!

I have the SAME tray as above that you see in brown. However, I wanted to change it up- so I spray painted my tray with platinum silver paint. After it was completely dry- I sanded the edges to get a little distressed look.

I wanted to design it to hang in my studio. I punched holes in the tray handle with the cropodile- and hung TC BLINGAGE. (the silver key is Tim Holtz Ideaology that I spray painted as well) As you can see I added lots of blingage.

I love the blingage buttons added to the center of the chipboard clock!

I LOVE the compartments of the tray. I was able to really customize the tray to represent my family and photos. *TC RED Blingage flower was changed to curl up more by adding heat to petals of flower with hot embossing gun.

 That is what I love most about 7 Gypsies you can KEEP it as it comes- like the dark wood- or you can change it up to "be any style" I love their music note tape and the countdown tag sheets- ONE of you will win all of the prizes!!!!

Yesterday, I had my FIRST weigh in with the new program at WEIGHT WATCHERS. I could not believe that I had LOST 4 lbs. I guess you could say I was "testing" to see if the program really works. I did eats LOTS of fruit (I mean lots!!!) and stayed true to my 29 daily Points Plus allowance. I never cheated and so it was a nice surprise- I NEVER felt hungry. I really have wanted to focus this past year on getting healthier. For me, traveling has been a big challenge to keep it all in check. I even traveled to CA last weekend so it was REALLY nice to know that you can travel and lose weight. I ate at In n' OUT twice since it was walking distance from the scrapbook store. (I had a hamburger protein style (no bun, no sauce- wrapped in lettuce, and added lots of pickles, lettuce, etc.) So I will keep you posted if this program how this program is working for me. I know that I love fruit so this is a really good fit for me!

Soon, I am going to my friends funeral. I know it will be a hard day for the family. I view funerals as a celebration of someones life and I focus on being thankful that they were apart of this wonderful world for a time.

Finally, a little inspiration for the holidays-

 Here is a December DAILY altered BOX -
Cheri Piles has outdone herself with her creative mad skills. I love it!

Directions:

For the exterior of the Box:

To start I removed all of the hardware from the box. Attach the binder mechanism to the inside then wrap the sides & back in the 'Cards and notes paper'. Re-attach all of the hardware.

 

For the Front:

Cover in the 'Red Damask side B paper', place letters on the right side for the words Merry & Bright, inking over them and then remove the letters with Undo. Cut 'Red letters transparency' to size and adhere to front (I put my adhesive in the middle of the transparency knowing the corners would help keep it in place too!) Cut a 1/4 inch strips from the notes paper, inking the edges for the bottom border, then roll a few and glue together to create circles and attach to the bottom right.

 

Paint the smaller wood pieces and corner pieces in silver and while WET dip them in Gentry's glitter setting aside to dry. Paint the larger wood piece in Gold - when dry paint on the crackle paint and glue one of the silver wood pieces to the bottom. 

 

TIP: When adhering the wood pieces only glue them to the box not the cover. I opened the box up, glued 3/4 of the pieces with 1/4 over the edge (where the cover would be if the box was closed) so when the box is closed it appears as if they are centered on the box.

 

Select your desired tags and embellishments for your centerpiece, BEFORE I attached my center I tied all my ribbon & McKay's Gems to one of Taylor's clips and attached that to the embellishment then I attached all of the embellishments' to the center.

 

For the pages:

I layed out all of my page protectors over an extra large table for an assembly line, then I placed all of my numbers from the 'Countdown paper' and all of the embellishments, tags, ribbons, envelopes and jewels as desired and adhered to the fronts of the page protectors. I cut all of the remaining paper from the Noel line and slid them inside the page protectors. I punched holes in the page protectors and put them in the box.

I loved her book and knew you would too. THANKS Cheri!!!!!

So MANY MANY MANY good things are coming EACH day. I want to tell you that all of this GIVING has been so special to me. I hope that it brings happiness and joy to others. I can't thank the manufacturers enough for partnering with me to do this. I promise- THIS is just getting BIGGER and BIGGER each day- YOU will not want to miss a single day. Giving is truly so much better than receiving.

Tonight I am going to the viewing of a church friend who passed away way too young. He was only 48 years old and slipped on ice at the ice rink.  He suffered severe brain damage. He leaves behind four children, a beautiful wife and a new grandbaby. He was actually one of the  coaches of the high school hockey team. His son plays on the team. I have cried so much and honestly feel so sad that the world lost this wonderful man. It really puts life in perspective. TODAY and EVERY day- don't sweat the small stuff. You just never know what each new day brings. TELL your family and friends EVERY TIME- EVERY DAY that you love them. Don't let things go unspoken. I know that I will be FOREVER grateful for the two hour talk my mom and I had the day before she passed away. She called to tell me how much she loved me. She wanted me to know how happy she was. I AM SO FORTUNATE I had this conversation with her.MAKE the most of EVERY day and be thankful that your living it. EVEN in the hard times!!!! I know that I will FOREVER remember his example to me of his CONSTANT SMILE and happiness. He was always present  at every one of his kids events. He was the type of man that you KNEW just adored his wife. He was always so proud of her and was always by her side. I often would look at them and think "they still seem like childhood sweethearts."

My heart and prayers go out to the BROWN family.

TODAY... I am getting ready to head to the San Diego airport. I am on my way home today. I know that I say several times a year, but I love what I do and I still love THIS creative industry. I love traveling and visiting the stores. It is REALLY important to me to feel that I am doing everything I can to visit the stores that support TC products. I love to teach and share and hopefully INSPIRE others to create. I am PASSIONATE about helping others to "TELL YOUR STORY." I am so THANKFUL for a husband that supports me and actually encourages me in this. I love that when I called home last night, Ty was excited that Maxson was on his way over. Kayla and Matt were having a much needed date night. All of the kids were home and had friends over and this is our norm. Ty loves this and so do I. LOVE that my family enjoys being together. Ty encouraged me to go have fun last night- so Camille and I (along with three other friends) went to Chili's and then had a GIRLS NIGHT watching Eclipse back at home. It was so fun!!!! A wonderful ending to the day-

DAY 4 COUNTDOWN- IMAGINISCE GIVEAWAY

These are stamps made with the TC STAMPMAKER that Lara stamped onto a CORK tag. I really love that you can see the detail so well. I demoed the Stampmaker at EVER AFTER last night and everyone commented about the detail. Plus, you can create your own stamps in FIVE minutes- bonus!!!!

I am having the best time here at EVER AFTER. Camille picked me up and we went to lunch at a restuarant by the OCEAN. The scenery was amazing and Camille and I had a wonderful time chatting. I really NEEDED to be here this weekend. This is my last trip for 2010. I have to say that the welcome and girls in the class tonight were so kind. I felt bad that the class had sold out and we could not accomodate more girls. I love that girls came even though they did not get into the class to see me. It really makes me feel appreciative for the blessing of being surrounded by good & caring friends.

Camille and I are here having lunch. Such a beautiful and warm day. Camille really does have a beautiful store and she has an ENTIRE wall of Teresa Collins product. I love how she has it displayed and especially blingage. (*I'll post a photo tomorrow!!!)

I have to share my experience on the plane. Three rows ahead of me, about 30 minutes prior to landing a young man in his early 20's- had a seizure. I watched the flight attendants race to him. They asked if anyone was a doctor. No one came forth.  It seemed like forever as I watched him having his seizure.  It was not like anything I have ever seen. Thankfully, the woman to his right was a nurse. I immediately said a prayer. I kept praying for him to be okay. I gave thanks that the woman was his angel and Heavenly Father sat her next to him. I watched and prayed the entire time until we FINALLY landed and got to the gate. The paramedics raced to row 15 and tried to help. He was so out of it, and could not express himself. They finally got him off and I have thought of him NONSTOP since then. I travel alot and this was the first time where anything like this has happened. I pray he is okay... It REALLY hit me hard to really live each day with being GRATEFUL and appreciate EVERY single day.

The 25 days until Christmas begins....

DAY 1- SANTA CLAUS

So excited to share with you the 25 days- Countdown to Christmas project. Here is how it goes- ALL of the GIFT TAGS were made with the TC STAMPMAKER stamps that were created by LARA with Photocentric. I can't take credit for her beautiful tags. She used NOEL (my Christmas Collection and my BLINGAGE alphabet set (all the numbers) for the tags. I love how she has displayed the tags. She took a beautiful LARGE frame and added wire across the inside of the frame to hang her tags. Each day as you come to my blog you will see a new tag.
