I'm heading to a friends Cookie Lee (jewelry) party this morning. In these economic times well I just am really trying to be MORE aware of what I'm spending my money on. I am NOT the best at finding bargains all the time, but I do seem to find good deals. I see things and then try to add to them, change them up, etc. It is the interior decorator in me. I think that is how I even design in my scrapbooking. I will take something and make it more BLINGY or change it up to be more me- Want to see the project that I will teach at SCRAP SHACK in NC on May 6th???? It is this large project- 7x13 Chipboard album. I wanted to teach something special on the EAST coast- because I rarely teach in this area of the country. I wanted something that would be meaningful but at the same time- beautiful.
Here is what I am doing- the class workshop is "REMEMBER- FAMILY matter" I have buying ornate frames for the past year and saving them for this class. I painted them all black- (spray paint!!!)- but the frames can be any color. I have a few different styles of frames, so the students can pick their frame. The photo just does not do this cover justice. You cannot see the details in the charms hanging from the book edge.
I added a large crown charm, a large teardrop gem, and tags....I love the knob on the book. Everyone will get a knob- or they can add their own ornate book knob. This one happens to be off the PANTS of my daughters, McKays jeans. See I like to recycle. I loved the dimension and detail.
I love the new LARGE chipboard sizes. I can't tell you how much you can add in this size. I added my 6x12 prepunched page protectors inside the book- and the 6x12 transparency papers.
This is the inside cover and 1st page of the book. Did I mention that I use my stamps WAY too much. ha- They just inspire me!!!!
Oh, and I love CLOCKS- so we are doing lots of fun things with my 6x12 transparencies in the workshop.
Of course, I am a big fan of journaling- so it will be a emphasis in the class....
That is just a "little" sneak peak of the project. We will actually have the class at Dale Jrs. office's again. We will have lots of room that way. Zach is super excited to be around Nascar country. Due to the detail involved, (it's a very hands on class)- this will not be offered as a KIT only class. We are doing too many things in class. However, I will be teaching this class AGAIN. I will be teaching it in California in June. That way I taught it twice- on the East Coast and then on the West Coast.
I got the COOLEST project sent to me today- by Jennifer Priest. I would have NEVER thought of doing this-
Jennifer is a bind it all girl- and used her machine to punch holes in one of my 5x7 chipboard covers. She punched it with the BIA and then used the BIA coils to hang her daughters necklaces from. This is in her daughters bedroom. I love the CRUSH pink dots paper!!!!
This is such a GREAT idea!!! I am amazed at her creativity. She gives complete details on her blog. jennifer priest instructions
I have to rush now- off to my friends. Tonight, the boys and I are going to the last regular season basketball game for BYU vs AIRFORCE. I admit, basketball is generally not one of my fave sports to watch but excited it will be with my boys.
Hope you do something fun this weekend!~
