FOREWARNING: This will be long.
It has been a year since our last IU 2008. So I like to think that this year, we learned what worked and didn't work the first year and made this event EVEN better!!!! This event is a HUGE undergoing. I would imagine between Ginger (the most amazing FRIEND and event coordinator ever) and I we probably send each other thousands of emails. Oh, and LOTS of phone calls too! My goal has and always will be to INSPIRE my friends at the event...not only in scrapbooking but hopefully in all areas of life. It is a event where we make heartfelt connections. I want to personally talk and KNOW each and every student at the event. So there is lots of teacher & student interaction. To me, I know I get SO MUCH more than the students realize. Sleep is very LOW on the priority scale at the event. I'm too busy...enjoying EVERY moment with everyone! I have so much to share that I thought I would go from day to day and SHARE in parts...
Thursday- Layle and I drove to Nevada in my PACKED vehicle. It was a FAST 6 hour drive. We stopped only once to get gasoline and eat at IN N'OUT. I have to say that we talked and talked and the time FLEW by. I have always loved Layle but I just felt like our friendship grew even stronger. She is someone that I greatly admire as a artist and woman. I had to let everyone know that she will not be back at IU in 2010. Believe me...I asked- she is amazing! However, she was only home 2 weeks out of 8 this past month. It was hard on her family. We will so miss her....and she is always welcome back.
We arrived at the hotel. We drove up and immediately noticed three scrapbook friends. They offered to unload our car to see all the goodies...ha! The bell hops had their work set out for them. Yes, we tipped them well!!!
We went into the ballroom and set up for the meet and greet. As instructors we each set up a table to display projects. We had YUMMY desserts served and met with all the students at the event. We had 100 woman who came and chatted with us. We took lots of photos and caught up with everyone. Ginger opened the on site store just in case anyone needed anything. WOW... can you say SHOPPING frenzy????? The T-drops were FLYING... I was loving the excited girls and could not believe we quickly sold out of all of the T-drops. Everyone was in a shopping mood...and I dare to say...there was NO sign of a recession.
I have the worst photos to share... the room was uber dark- so forgive...
*next table was Janna Wilsons...and unfortunately my photos were so dark- but I have to show something that she did...because she is so talented-
Janna is just one of my very best friends- I admire her more than words can express. She recently lost 25 lbs and wow...she inspired us all. She is the cutest MOTHER to three amazing children and she is CREATIVE in all aspects of her life. She has a GIFT!
Layle- I am so LUCKY that through IU we have grown closer and I deeply appreciate you
and our friendship!!!!!
This is Stephanie's table. Yes, can you feel the HOMESPUN & HEARTFELT feel of her work?
I want to share how I met her... I did not know Stephanie but was on a CA store blog. For some reason, I saw her name and clicked on the link. It was late (real late one night) and I read her blog. She has posted a very personal blog post on a medical crisis she was facing. She had found a lump in her breast and was awaiting the results of the tests. I remember being so HIT HARD and SAD for her. I felt her heart through her words. I wanted to email her and tell her I was praying for her, but wow...I thought she would think I was WEIRD. She did not know me...so I felt foolish to contact her. I was nervous but I wrote her a long email. I told her I know she did not know who I was but that I stumbled on her blog and was heartbroken for her...but encouraged her to have faith...and that I was praying for her. To my surprise, she emailed me the next day. She said she could not believe I had emailed her and that SHE KNEW who I was. She asked me is this..."the Teresa Collins" I still laugh over that one. That began a beautiful start to a treasured friendship- I know she is one of FRIENDS that you KNOW you will have FOREVER...LIFELONG. Moral- follow your heart and prompting...it just might gain you a FRIEND for life.
ARE YOU STILL AWAKE????
I just felt I had to share WHY I invited the teachers that I did this year. I love them all!
So here is the news for my event for 2010...yes, I will do the third one...Sept 24-26th...
Here is the NEW VENUE:
Details: IU 2010
Cost: drum roll..... $285.00 yes, you read that right...
I want EVERYONE to be able to come and be able to afford the event.
UNFORTUNATELY....this is what hurts me... I have always wanted to maintain the feel of the original event. I want to be able to TALK with each and every student. So due to this desire,
the event will be a limited amount of students. Right now, we have a few hundred girls on the waiting list. If you have not got on the notification list- do it now...we will be emailing out all the details shortly. Sign ups will be November 1st....
Last year, we had girls who thought they could wait to sign up...and did not make it in by waiting a few hours to sign up. I think the system crashed from the sign ups on the first day. By moving the event to Green Valley Resort- we can better accommodate and add more students but still maintain the intimate feel of the event.
THE INSTRUCTORS FOR 2010:

So do you wanna come?????
*did you see the new SCRAPPY TV video...it's the post below and I will be picked three winners- so you STILL have time to post. winners to be picked soon-
